
In response to the epidemic of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, state lawmakers last September enacted AB354, a new school immunization law that requires all students entering 7th through 12th grades in the 2011/12 school year to be immunized with a pertussis vaccine booster called Tdap.
"Basically, no shot, no school," says Catherine Arthur, a Livermore School District nurse.
